If You're Looking For A Cowboy
|
|
If you're looking for a cowboy, girls And you’re sure that’s what you want You listen to me carefully I’ll give you some do’s and don’ts
If you have given it some thought And you’ve truly set your mind Let me give you girls some advice If it’s a cowboy you want to find
You see, I know what you’re looking for So heed these words I say Cause you won’t find him at the places You girls are looking today
Oh, you may find some real cool dude Driving a red dual wheel GMC But, that don’t make him a cowboy So you’d better listen to me
Just because he knows how to two step And wears them Wrangler jeans Well, you had best be on your toes Cause things aren’t what they seem
Oh, but, if he drives a flatbed And his hat has seen some wear He’ll only eat red meat and beans And goes to the county fair
There’s a button missing on his shirt And his boots come to his knees His spurs jingle when he walks So, now you’re starting to see
You won’t find him hanging out At the local downtown mall He don’t wear a beeper Cause his horse can’t dial to call
He won’t be at the public beach And he’s not for traveling far He stays away from opera And he probably don’t own a car
Don’t try in the rodeo stands You best look behind the gate Cause cowboys ride, they don’t watch And they’re always running late
So, “Where”, you say, “Do we go To meet to cowboy of our dreams?" Well, it won’t be at a preppy club And he won’t be wearing designer jeans
The hardware store’s a sure bet And that little roadside café Mama’s house on Sunday’s Or in the meadow baling hay
Oh, he does love the pretty girls So he’ll make the drive to town And if one offered to cook his breakfast He wouldn’t turn her down
So if you don’t mind his cowdog Or the hayseeds in the seat The spit can and his can of chew And the fact he eats red meat
He might have a beer for breakfast And no excuse for running late But the heifer’s having trouble And he had to re-hang the gate
But, God, your girlfriends love him And they wish that they were you Even though they wouldn’t tell you They’d like to have one too So, if you listen to what I’m saying And heed the words I say to you You’ll find yourself a real cowboy But, after that it’s up to you
Cause finding one’s not easy Or maybe you’ll be like me And just stumble onto to one by accident And go from being me to we
